The Missouri Composers Orchestra Project

The Columbia Civic Orchestra, with support from the University of Missouri Mizzou New Music Initiative, will present a concert of six recent works by Missouri composers at Columbia College’s Launer Auditorium. Four of the works will be selected through a competitive process. Each of the composers of the selected works will be awarded a $500 honorarium.
The concert will take place at Columbia College's Launer Auditorium, 901 Rogers Street, Columbia, MO, at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, March 10th, 2012. The selected
composers are required to be present for the concert and the dress rehearsal, which will be from
2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. the afternoon of March 10th, also in Launer Auditorium.
The Project seeks applicants to submit works in the High School and Open categories. One piece
will be selected from the High School category and the other three will come from the Open
category. The pieces must be works for symphony orchestra, up to 10 minutes in duration, and
have been composed within the past 10 years. The piece must have been composed while the
composer was living in Missouri.
The maximum instrumentation for submissions will be 2,2,2,2 4,3,3,1 Timp+2 Perc Strings.

Applicants in the Open Category must also include a resume (maximum 2 pages).
